1. What can I expect in my initial meeting with you?

A: The first meeting will generally last one hour. In that hour, we’ll learn about your specific situation and help you identify and prioritize your objectives. We’ll explain how we work with our clients, the process we use, and the options you have to help you before, during, and after your divorce.

2. Is there a cost for that first meeting?

A: The first 45 minutes is at no charge. After that we charge our normal hourly fee, which will be applied towards your agreement should you decide to work with us.

3. I do not have an attorney yet. Should I wait until I hire an attorney before I see you?

A: Most of our clients meet with us before they hire an attorney. There are good reasons for this: for example, you may not know all of the options available for processing your divorce. In that first meeting, we’ll explain the differences between the options – such as litigation, mediation, or collaboration – and describe the pros and cons for each one. You’ll learn about how each process works as well as the types of professionals available to help you, which will allow you to make the best decisions for your unique situation.

4. Will you refer other professionals?

A: Absolutely! We work with many different types of professionals – from attorneys to mortgage professionals – to make sure you get the best information so you can make the best financial decisions for your future.

5. My spouse has handled most of the family finances in the past. I’m afraid I’m not knowledgeable about what we have. Can you still help me?

A: We actually specialize in helping to educate the least financially-savvy spouse. We have decades of experience in taking complicated financial matters and explaining them in laymen’s terms so you truly understand your financial situation: what you have, what you need, and what you want. At ANEW Divorce Planning, we empower you by analyzing and explaining your unique situation – and all available options to help you achieve your goals – so you can make decisions about your future with confidence.

6. Can you assist me after my divorce?

A: Our practice can provide advice before, during, and after your divorce. It’s all part of what we do to help you piece together your financial life to create a brighter post-divorce future.
